I came in after ya'll had already started learning this tune, but I wonder what the purpose is? Sure, it's a hornpipe and sounds great if we can execute it well in a performance, but it's also a hornpipe and in my experience getting the whole band to a level where we can execute something like that (or a jig) in a performance has always been just out of reach. It's also not a well known tune (I've never heard it / of it before). Is this a tune the band as a whole is committed to learning and getting up to performance snuff?

Here's my copy of the two Burns tunes. They're really simple to learn and quite nice pieces. Mandatory for any Burns Night celebrations. Probably best to rewrite them. On Corn Rigs, I would strongly suggest dropping the second part of Part B (after the repeat). This gets quite complicated and even I can't play it - and it sounds fine with a simple repeat.

I'm able to teach beginners IF I have a practice chanter I can get working and IF I'm there. It's super helpful to know when a new person plans to show up so we all can plan accordingly, but that's obviously not always possible. I don't believe we have anyone in the band at the moment qualified to give advanced instruction (i.e. teach competent pipers how to pipe better). There used to be regular workshops for this kind of thing, but I think it's been a good while since anyone held one.
